Little Puffy is a 4 lb Chow mix. She is friendly and optimistic in spite of her recent ordeal.
Yesterday, some people in Tuskegee called the fire department because they heard a puppy crying from inside a sink hole in their back yard. They couldn't get to the hole because a car was parked on top of it and starting to fall into the hole too. The fire department never showed up. the people called again today and the fire department told them to call Bill Cook of animal control.
Bill went out and helped them to first move the car off the hole. then they had to rescue the puppy that was laying on a ledge in the hole about 8 feet down. The bottom of the hole was filled with sewage water. Bill rigged up a catch pole and managed to get the puppy out with that. He called the MCHS to help the puppy.
I met Bill at the Macon County Courthouse and picked up little Puffy. She was dirty and shaking. I took her straight to the vet school where they bathed her and dried her with a hair dryer. They checked her out for possible injuries but she seemed fine. She was a little dehydrated so they kept her overnight for observation.
Since Puffy was found in a sink hole, we have no idea of her breed. However, she looks like a Keeshond/Chow Chow mix.
